Butterfly
In September, we celebrate Big Butterfly Month to honor the significance of butterflies. WildTales organizes Butterfly Walks at various sites, welcoming the public to join and appreciate the significance of citizen science in safeguarding these stunning insects. Additionally, our team collaborates with various organizations to host online and offline sessions throughout the Big Butterfly Month (BBM). These initiatives aimed to educate participants about butterfly conservation, encourage active involvement in monitoring efforts, and foster a deeper connection to nature among individuals of all ages.
Moth Week
Each year, National Moth Week (NMW) takes place globally during the last week of July, celebrating the beauty, life cycles, and habitats of moths around the world. NMW encourages individuals to become Citizen Scientists, offering everyone the chance to contribute to moth research. Despite their importance, moths remain among the least studied creatures, facing a concerning decline and requiring urgent conservation efforts. At WildTales, we strive to raise awareness about moths and foster appreciation for their beauty and ecological significance. To achieve this, we organize moth-watching events at various locations across states, inviting everyone to join us in celebrating these remarkable creatures and their vital role in nature.
Challenge
The City Nature Challenge represents a global initiative inviting individuals to explore and record plants and wildlife within urban areas worldwide. This bioblitz-style competition fosters friendly rivalry among cities, encouraging participants to make observations, identify species, and engage with the natural world. Held annually over four days at the end of April, cities compete to make the most significant contributions to biodiversity documentation. WWF India recently partnered with WildTales to celebrate the City Nature Challenge by hosting online and offline workshops in the Delhi region.
eBird events
We engage in various events such as The Great Backyard Bird Count, Campus Bird Count, and Asian Waterbird Census (AWC), where we share our observations on eBird. Additionally, we organize bird watching events for the public, encouraging participation in these activities and promoting biodiversity conservation through citizen science.
